Popular Music Producer Zapp Mallet has bemoaned the rate at which social media is “forcing” people to listen to music he describes as “crap”
With the Advent of Social Media, Musiciansis today can put together a beat and make it trend without waiting for a Music company to promote it, as was done in the past.
However, the ace Producer who is obviously not happy with the trend said although there existed “crap” music in the past, it was not as rampant as technological advancement has made it today.
Mr Mallet who was speaking on Multimedia’s Showbiz A-Z entertainment show over the weekend, as monitored by Ghanaguardian.com noted that, in the past much attention was given to the content of the song.
“Somebody just put something together and then puts a beat over it and all of sudden it is all over the place. Back then in our days, people were also doing crap songs, but the radar was not on them, the spotlight couldn’t focus on them because we didn’t have social media, so the focus and the attention, the radar could be highlighted on good songs or good music, but right now since we have the internet, it is so open.”
Mr Mallet has worked with celebrated musicians including, Kojo Antwi, Lord Kenya, Reggie Rockstone and Obour.
