A headmistress of a school in Kumasi has landed herself in trouble for forcing her students to swear at a shrine over her missing money.

Madam Akyaa Kusi of Mount Sinai Methodist Junior High School at Dompoase in Kumasi took her students to a deity to swear their innocence over GH¢1000 which got missing in her office.

According to an investigation by Human Right Reporters Ghana (HRRG), she suspected the students might have stolen the money she kept in her office given to the school as capitation grant.

Without involving the police, she took the students to a deity in the town were the students swear that they would die with their relatives if they have indeed stolen the money.

Parents of some of the students who got to know the action of the headmistress confirmed the incident to HRRG.

They say on hearing what their children had to go through at the shrine, they reported the headmistress to the Asokwa Municipal Education Office but they are yet to take action against the woman.

Apparently the headmistress is also the President of Girls Fellowship of the Methodist in Atonsu.

The parents want both the Methodist Church and Ghana Education Service to investigate the issue and punish the headmistress.
