A 17-year-old American is standing trial over the murder of a Ghanaian Driver.
The young boy, Torian Wilson shot 40-year-old Elijah Newman in the torso leading to his death at the crime scene.
Torian Wilson admitted to the Police of being at the scene of the shooting after he was arrested nearby with a gun that matched a bullet casing found next to Newman’s body.
The accused was found by Detectives who traced his phone, after linking his email address to a series of recently reported carjackings of ride-hailing companies in the area, police said.
The Ghanaian driver has been in the USA for a decade with the dream of making enough money to take care of his 5 children back home in Ghana.
According to his longtime friend, Elizabeth Hylton of St. Peters, Newman wrote down his plans in a diary he kept and talked about them in video calls with his kids in his hometown of Tema, Ghana.
